James Paxton, MD, MBA, FACEP, has been an exceptional leader and invaluable contributor to the College’s research initiatives.
His impact is most evident in his role as the volunteer Editor-in-Chief for two published research primers and a forthcoming Journal Club primer, all designed to support ACEP members and the broader emergency medicine research community. These projects include ACEP Resident Research and Scholarly Activity Primer (2021), ACEP EFIC Research Primer (2024), and ACEP Journal Club Primer (planned release 2025).
These resources represent substantial, impactful, and enduring contributions to emergency medicine research education.
Beyond his editorial work, Dr. Paxton has been a dedicated leader within the Research Section, consistently organizing well-structured meetings and events while generously mentoring and supporting early-career researchers. For the Research Committee, he recently stepped forward and was appointed to the role of future Research Forum Chair.
His contributions to the College extend beyond the Research, Scholarly Activity, and Innovation Section and Research Committee to include key contributions to several Ethics Committee reports.
