Payment for EP Standby Time/Uninsured Patients

CalACEP has approved funding for an outside researcher to study what the standby cost would be.

Although there are a few bills filed by the Massachusetts Hospital Association relative to reimbursement for boarding patients, MACEP has no position on the issue as we typically do not get involved in hospital reimbursement issues (other than OON). Also, as noted above, it is early and none have emerged as viable, or a priority of the House or Senate.

We were able to get this in the budget last session, and our Department of Health and Human Services has asked for a State Plan Amendment to implement it.

Tennessee did not engage in a discussion regarding payment issues.
