You are invited to attend a vital educational session designed for physicians, physician assistants, and nurses working in pediatric emergency departments. This session will focus on identifying the subtle and often overlooked symptoms of infantile spasms, a rare form of epileptic seizure occurring in infants up to age four. As these subtle seizures frequently present first in emergency departments, they are often misdiagnosed, leading to delayed, time-sensitive diagnoses that can result in serious neurodevelopmental consequences within just seven days. Infantile spasms are a medical emergency, requiring immediate referral to an epileptologist and urgent EEG testing for diagnosis. By attending this session, you will gain critical insights into recognizing this condition, which can have severe outcomes if undiagnosed—tragically, one-third of affected infants do not survive beyond age three. Join us to learn how we can work together to ensure timely diagnosis and improve patient outcomes.
