ACEP Seeks a New Executive Director

ACEP is seeking a bold, dynamic, and transformative Executive Director to lead the organization and advance its mission.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and work to enhance ACEP’s influence, operational excellence, and value to its members and the profession.

This is a critical time for emergency physicians. Demand for emergency care is skyrocketing as many of the biggest challenges in health care and society have solutions with emergency physicians at the center. There are uncharted opportunities to advance and empower emergency physician leaders within the walls of the hospital and beyond.

At the same time, there are unprecedented threats exerting extraordinary pressure on the health care safety net and the physicians who manage it. Insurance companies constantly push the limits of the law to avoid or reduce reimbursement. Corporatization and consolidation threaten physician autonomy and careers. Burnout is persistent and the stigma surrounding physician mental health continues to cast a long shadow.

More than 50 years ago, ACEP was at the forefront of efforts to establish the specialty. Emergency physicians are now indispensable, but they must not be taken for granted.

The needs of the physician workforce ACEP helped create have evolved as the specialty has grown. Change is necessary and new leadership can redefine the ways that ACEP helps emergency physicians thrive on the job.

Emergency physicians need and deserve a unified and unrelenting advocate, a forum for diverse thought leadership and information sharing, high-impact educational programs and resources, and an unrivaled venue for professional development.

This role is a unique opportunity to steer a complex, mission-driven organization that stands ready to meet the needs of emergency physicians nationwide.
