The update, developed with invaluable input from our Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee (CNAC), expands and refines the 2023 Documentation Guidelines FAQ to incorporate the latest information and apply these concepts to emergency department E/M documentation and coding.
The newly enhanced FAQ is significantly expanded, from 39 to 70 questions, and now includes a modified medical decision-making grid that features emergency medicine-specific examples in the risk column. This resource is meant to make sure that ACEP members and their coding staff can understand and adapt to the significant changes made to the documentation process that became effective in January 2023.
