Tackling Sustainability
As we begin our journey, we ask you to partner with us to focus on the following areas:
Carbon Neutral
Us:
The Pennsylvania Convention Center encourages alternative forms of transportation among convention center staff to reduce its carbon footprint.
You:
If you’re close, drive to ACEP23. If you’re able, walk to the Convention Center from your hotel.
Waste Diversion
Us:
Philadelphia diverts more than 60% of their waste every year, properly separating recyclables and compostables and keeping them out of the landfill. Philadelphia also eliminated the use of plastic straws at all meetings.
You:
Be sure to use the Pennsylvania Convention Center recycling bins so we can divert waste from ACEP23.
Water Wise
Us:
Water usage decreased by 13.2% in 2022 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center compared to 2019, with a similar trend for the Center’s electricity usage.
You:
Help us by not letting the water run extra in your hotel room, i.e., when brushing your teeth.
Responsible Paper Usage
Us:
ACEP23 Daily News is now email only. Great quality. Less waste.
You:
Print and bring only the absolutely necessary materials.
Local, Sustainable Foods
Us:
The Pennsylvania Convention Center focuses on using sustainable foods and 88% of its disposable serving ware is compostable. Additionally, 45% of the catering cleaning products are eco-friendly.
You:
When dining out in Philadelphia, try to focus on restaurants that use more locally sourced food.
Recycle & Reuse
Us:
Philadelphia has many water stations at the airport, hotels, and more to offer alternatives to plastic bottles.
You:
Bring a reusable water bottle to cut down on disposable plastic.
