We will share these stories and lessons and allow emergency physicians to build on proven strategies for success. As emergency physicians explore alternative fields for employment as side gigs or even exit strategies, we can offer advice based on our personal journeys.

Thank you for your patience. Your editor has been AWOL due to a life-changing event that I will share in an article when I can make it relevant to others as well as myself.
First, a disclosure. I am an ACEP junkie. Totally addicted, not in remission, not even in rehab. So, I speak from the addict’s perspective only.
I broke my clinical EM habit with slow withdrawal; moved to a different region, took a job in urgent care (2003), cultivated an alternative income source, and quit practice entirely (2015) when the alternative became all-consuming timewise.
