Chair’s Corner
Greetings from the Toxicology Section Newsletter! Thanks for taking the time to check us out, especially when everyone’s minds are mostly dedicated to the fight against COVID19.
Speaking of, I work in the Twin Cities, where we have a toxicology fellowship with 3 fellows, currently. We also host a medical school clerkship from the University of Minnesota and an Internal Medicine toxicology elective. In our effort to comply with social distancing, most of our consults are happening by phone. In addition, the students at the University have been dismissed from their clerkships unless they can be done remotely and we’re still trying to educate the IM resident any way we can. In order to do this, we’ve started to get creative. We’re coming up with a didactic curriculum that can be hosted on Zoom. We tried this with our weekly journal club and it worked great. I’m wondering if anyone else has gotten creative with learners and if so, what are you doing? Email me if you’d like. I’d love to hear from you.
To all of the emergency physicians out there who are so bravely caring for patients in the face of this pandemic, thank you for all you do. Please stay safe.
