From the Chair
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the Spring! With the (hopefully!) good weather, we are transitioning from indoor to outdoor sports. Baseball, softball, and track and field are all in full swing. These sporting events provide not only lots of great event coverage opportunities for the emergency sports physician, but also fun occasions to bring along the whole family to watch a game or two.
Members in the sports medicine section are busy doing lots of exciting work. Section members are participating in Exertional Heat Illness and Concussion collaborative working groups, and working on a joint section grant with the Wilderness Medicine section. In addition, through a project funded by an ACEP section grant, high-yield ED-focused musculoskeletal physical exam educational videos are now available on the Sports Section website. Please see the video summary update for more details.
With several projects in development, this is the perfect time to get involved in your section. Please let me know if you are interested in working on any of the current projects, or if there are any other ways that you would like to get involved. I am excited about the coming year and expanding opportunities for additional projects and section member involvement.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your chair. I look forward to seeing all of you at ACEP17 in Washington, DC.
