From the Chair
Greetings from Morgantown, West Virginia. Here at West Virginia University, spring is in the air, and I hope it is for you as well.
The ACEP Sports Medicine Section had a great meeting in San Diego at Scientific Assembly. For those of you who could not make it, we had an excellent discussion of the equipment needed for sideline coverage of sporting events. More specifically, we talked about the expectations for those covering NHL games and NFL games. Dr. Melissa Leber gave an entertaining lecture on her experience covering the U.S. Open tennis championship.
The highlight of the day, though, was the 5K Fun Run sponsored by our section along the marina. It was a beautiful morning, and there was a great turnout. Overall, it was very well received.
ACEP19 is quickly approaching, and we are beginning to plan for our section meeting. I may reach out to some of you individually, but if you have some ideas for topics of discussion or ways to improve, please let me know. I am looking forward to another great meeting in Denver. We will continue to let you know when we have section members who are speaking during the conference, and we will plan to have another speaker during our section meeting… stay tuned for an announcement on that.
I am sure that I will see many of you on our annual spring meeting tour of other organizations so make sure to stop me and say hello. As you always do, whether you are practicing emergency medicine, sports medicine, or both, keep doing what is right for your patients and stay safe.
See you in Denver!
