Martha Barrett, MD, MPH, FACEP, has served as a senior content editor for PEERprep for Physicians and PEERprep for Programs since 2022 and as a section editor for PEERprep for Physicians and PEERprep for Programs since 2021. Dr. Barrett is a core faculty member at WellSpan York Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. Dr. Barrett completed her doctor of medicine degree and Masters of Public Health at Boston University, and she completed her emergency medicine residency through the Jacobi/Montefiore Combined Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Barrett has also completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and the Medical Education Research Certificate Program.
Dr. Barrett is primarily interested in continuing education and the faculty development of physicians, and she currently serves as the continuing medical education physician liaison at her institution. Dr. Barrett is an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Emergency Medicine and a regional instructor for the Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS) and Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) programs. She served as the assistant director of the Pennsylvania WildMed course from 2017 to 2020. She has also served as the director of the emergency medicine rotation for off-service residents at her residency program. Dr. Barrett has given presentations at annual meetings for the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the Council of Residency Directors, and the Pennsylvania College of Emergency Physicians (PACEP). She has received several local teaching awards and was recognized as the best faculty discussant for CPC at PACEP in 2016.
