Dr. Teising is an emergency medicine physician with a passion for global health, rural medicine, public health, and health policy. Dr. Teising grew up in Appalachia initially pursuing chemical engineering before joining the Peace Corps, where she taught mathematics and reproductive health in Guinea, West Africa. Inspired by the health care challenges she witnessed both abroad and at home, she shifted her path to medicine.

She has worked extensively with the LGBTQ+ community in Philadelphia, focusing on HPV vaccine implementation and HIV/AIDS research, while developing PrEP initiatives. During medical school at Michigan State University, she participated in the Rural Physician Program in the Upper Peninsula and later earned an MPH in Health Policy from Harvard. Now in the final year of her Emergency Medicine Residency at West Virginia University, she remains dedicated to improving health care access in underserved communities. Dr. Teising plans to work with the Indian Health Service after graduation.
