Dr. Pickering leverages her expertise in emergency medicine and prior experience in prehospital care and critical care nursing to help foster emergency care initiatives worldwide.

As the Executive Director of Global Emergency Care, she spearheads training programs in Uganda. She collaborated with Partners in Health on training and intervention outcomes measurement in West Africa post-Ebola.

Dr. Pickering's contributions extend to collaborating with the World Health Organization across multiple countries, focusing on emergency care training, implementation, and quality measures - including recent efforts in Ukraine during the ongoing conflict.
