Dr. Peter A.D. Steel earned his pre-clinical M.A. (Hons) at Oxford University; his medical degree (M.B.B.S) at University College London-Royal Free Medical School, England. He completed his emergency medicine residency at New York-Presbyterian (NYP), serving as chief resident in 2010-11. Dr. Steel currently serves as the Vice-Chair of Clinical Services for the NYP-Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine and Ass Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine. In this role, Dr. Steel oversees the department’s various clinical service lines at both NYP-Weill Cornell Medical Center and NYP-Lower Manhattan Hospital. Dr. Steel is chair of MCIC Vermont, LLC’s Emergency Medicine committee and serves on both national and regional ACEP committees. His research interests include the interface between operational innovation, machine learning, and quality outcomes. Active grant-funded research is in the domain of ED transitions of care, designing technology-based solutions to impact the long-term health care trajectories of ED patients.
