Erin Muckey

MD, MBA

Dr. Erin Muckey is an assistant professor and serves as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Rutgers NJMS at University Hospital, a high-volume emergency department in Newark, NJ with a level 1 trauma center. Dr. Muckey’s professional focus involves clinical operations, healthcare informatics, quality improvement, and leadership development.

Dr. Muckey received her undergraduate education at Princeton and dual MD/MBA at Columbia. She completed her residency training in the Emergency Medicine Department at NYU Langone / Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City where she also served as chief resident.

Before entering her career in emergency medicine, Dr. Muckey worked in healthcare consulting for payers, hospital systems, and pharma/biotech clients where she advised healthcare industry leaders. She now applies her expertise from other healthcare sectors to help address emergency department challenges.
