YPS Meeting Recap, New Officers and More!
If you were unable to join our virtual YPS Business Meeting held in conjunction with ACEP21, let us catch you up on what you missed!
Note: If you were on of the first 50 to sign on to our meeting, your GrubHub card is coming soon! We submitted our list to the person fulfilling this benefit, and you should receive them to your email by Nov. 15.
First, Dr. Amy Ho and Past YPS Chair Dr. John Corker kicked off the meeting with a great discussion about the process of writing her children's book during the pandemic and how she's leveraged her pursuits outside the ED to build her influence and impact. View the full discussion above or on YouTube.
We honored the inaugural class of the YPS Leadership Society, an incredible collection of young physicians who were nominated by their chapters because of their willingness to go above and beyond to better our specialty.
Then we announced the winners of our YPS officer elections! Congratulations to these new YPS leaders:
- Chair Elect: Dr. Edward Descallar
- Alternate Councillor: Dr. Karina Sanchez
- Secretary: Dr. Whitney Faulconer
YPS officers provided updates on Council resolutions and other YPS initiatives. We were pleased to announce that our section was chosen as the winner of the 2021 Service to Section Award because of our new initiatives, including our EM LIFERS educational series and the introduction of the Leadership Society program to honor up-and-coming young physicians.
Dr. Mark Christensen, Regional Medical Director, Chair of Emergency Medicine, gave a 15-minute presentation entitled "Current Concepts in Concussion" that you can now watch on-demand on behalf of our YPS meeting sponsor, BrainScope. Dr. Christensen also provided his contact information for those who wanted to follow up with him (email and LinkedIn) and this BrainScope Cullman Regional Case Study about his experience with this technology at his hospital.
