Larissa May, MD, MSPH is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director of ED and Outpatient Antibiotic Stewardship at UC Davis Health. Her programmatic and research interests center on the application of clinical guidelines, behavioral economics and rapid diagnostics to improving the management of infections in the ED. She spoke at ACEP highlighting the Mitigate Antibiotic Stewardship Toolkit and how we can improve upon antibiotic use in the ED. She discussed how EM should be can be leaders in the goal of patient safety and how behavioral nudges and the mitigate implementation guide can be used as a framework for program development. Recently passed was an ACEP resolution to focus resources on AMS.
