Sophia Spadafore, MD is currently serving as the inaugural Health Policy and Advocacy Fellow at The Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine, and works clinically at Mount Sinai and Elmhurst Hospital Center. Her fellowship will be complete in June, and in July she will begin her work as Assistant Director of Clinical Operations for the Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside emergency departments. She previously served as Chief Resident at The Mount Sinai Hospital/Elmhurst Hospital Center Emergency Medicine Residency. She has a strong interest in health policy and currently serves on the American Medical Association Council on Legislation as well as a resident and fellow section Delegate for ACEP to the AMA House of Delegates. She was appointed to the EMRA Board of Directors from 2019-2023 to serve as the EMRA Representative to the AMA, and is now the Councillor for the ACEP Young Physician Section (YPS) serving on the YPS governing council and representing them at ACEP Council.

She is completing an internship at the US Health and Human Services (HHS) Region 2 office where she has studied health disparities in Puerto Rico and access to naloxone, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Political Science as part of her fellowship.
