Dr. Paxton is an Associate Professor with the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University (WSU) School of Medicine (Detroit, MIchigan). He is a former Chair of the WSU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Co-Director of the Business of Medicine course for first-year medical students at WSUSOM. He earned both his MBA and MD degrees from the University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati, Ohio), and completed his EM residency at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MIchigan). He is currently core academic faculty at both Sinai-Grace Hospital (SGH) and Detroit Receiving Hospital (DRH), and serves as Director of Clinical Research for EM at DRH. He is an active clinical researcher, having served as Principal Investigator for dozens of publicly- and privately-funded clinical trials. He is an active member of the ACEP Research Committee and ACEP Ethics Committee.
