VP for Acute Psychiatry, Vituity; Past President, American Association for Emergency Psychiatry; Past Chair of the national Coalition on Psychiatric Emergencies; professor at two medical schools; and the developer of the “Alameda Model.” He has authored multiple textbooks & peer-reviewed articles, and is known as the co-inventor of On-Demand Emergency Telepsychiatry and the creator of the EmPATH Unit (Emergency Psychiatry Assessment, Treatment and Healing Unit) model for behavioral health emergency care. He led the Project BETA guidelines that revolutionized the care approach to agitation around the world. He was the NC for Behavioral Health's 2015 USA Doctor of the Year.
