Lauren Westafer

DO, MPH, MS, FACEP

Dr. Westafer is an emergency physician and assistant professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Healthcare Delivery and Population Science at the University of Massachusetts Medical School -  Baystate.

She is a clinician-investigator with a focus on implementation science, de-implementation of low-value care, pulmonary embolism, and addiction medicine.

Dr. Westafer was an early leader in the Free Open Access Medical Education movement and cofounder of the Emergency Medicine podcast, FOAMcast.  In addition, she serves as the social media editor and a research methodology editor for Annals of Emergency Medicine and consulting editor for the NEJM Journal Watch.
