Salil Bhandari
MD, FACEP
Dr. Salil Bhandari is an award winning emergency medicine physician, educator, and sleight of hand illusionist! He completed his residency in at NYU Medical Center in New York and now works as an Associate Professor at UTHealth-Houston’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program.
He has trained residents in public speaking, procedural competency, and is passionate about resuscitation, rare procedures and educational philosophy. He has received multiple education awards at his local institutions including Attending of the Year and Best Faculty Lecturer. On a national level, he was a contributor to the Core EM Website, a speaker for the REBEL EM Conferences, and a winner of numerous national teaching awards including ACEP’s Rookie speaker of the Year in 2023.
In his current role at UTHealth-Houston he is the Director of Media & Communications, regularly appearing on local TV channels. He is a designated teacher of emergency procedures for NASA’s Astronaut Training Program, preparing astronauts for emergencies at the International Space Station. He has also taken on a new roles Director of Faculty Development for UTHealth-Houston, the busiest Level 1 Trauma center in North America.
