Ralph Riviello

MD, MS, FACEP

Dr. Riviello serves as a professor and chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Long School of Medicine at University Health San Antonio. He graduated from Hahnemann Medical College and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dr. Riviello also earned a master's degree in clinical forensic emergency medicine.  Dr. Riviello has lectured, written, and researched on the topics of sexual assault, domestic violence, and strangulation both nationally and internationally.

He has served on several national committees and panels related to these topics as well. He co-authors the “Forensic Facts” column in ACEP Now. He is a member of the medical advisory panel of the Institute on Strangulation Training as well as the Texas Governor’s Sexual Assault Survivor Task Force.

He is the author of the textbook, Clinical Forensic Emergency Medicine: a guide for clinicians.
