In his role as an emergency physician, Dr. Augustine is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

He is Retired Chair Emeritus of the National Clinical Governance Board for US Acute Care Solutions, based in Canton, Ohio. He served two terms as a member of the ACEP Board of Directors and continues to serve as Chair of the ACEP EMDI Innovation Advisory Group. He also is the Vice President of the Emergency Department Benchmarking Alliance (EDBA).

Dr. Augustine is a national consultant, author, and speaker on products used in emergency care, including medications, and emergency department data, operations and design.

Dr. Augustine currently serves as the Medical Director for Lee County EMS in Fort Myers, Florida, and as the Chief Medical Officer for North Collier Fire Rescue in Naples, Florida. He is the Medical Director for Washington Township Fire Rescue near Dayton, Ohio.  His current  responsibilities also include serving as Medical Director for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC).
