Vision and Value Proposition
The overall goal of accreditation is to elevate the practice of emergency medicine and the role of emergency physicians. Meeting accreditation standards can add value for patients, physicians, the emergency team and hospitals.

Timeline
October 2022 – ACEP ED Accreditation Task Force convened
January 2023 – ACEP Board approves moving forward with ED Accreditation Program
March 2024 – ED Accreditation criteria formalized; all levels of applications submitted to ACEP Board for approval
Late Spring/Early Summer 2024 – ED Accreditation pilot applications open for acceptance
August/September 2024 – ED Accreditation pilot application discussion
September/October 2024 – Participant selection and formation of ED Accreditation Advisory Board
