The EMRA Ultrasound Committee is excited to share some updates on what our leaders have been working on the last few months:
In March, we had a great turn out at our event for CORD 2023 in Las Vegas. We led a workshop on musculoskeletal ultrasound where participants practiced hip, shoulder, and knee scanning techniques.
We’re continuing our recurrent article series called “POCUS For the Win” in which we feature interesting cases where ultrasound played a key role in diagnosis or management. If you have a cool case you’d like to share, please reach out to EMRApocusFTW@gmail.com. You can find our previously published articles here: POCUS FTW
The committee continues to support ultrasound in undergraduate medical education through various projects. We’re in the process of creating a database of ultrasound rotations for medical students that we hope to share soon. We’re also looking forward to working with medical students during the ultrasound portion of the EMRA Student Workshop Day at ACEP23.
Our leaders are working hard to create a set of scanning protocols for medical students and residents to use on-shift. These will include images and QR codes that link to helpful videos for users to watch.
We held an Ultrasound Fellowship Panel on August 30 over Zoom. The panel features program leaders and included a discussion about the application process and how to be a competitive applicant.
Lastly, we’re eagerly planning our events for ACEP23 in Philadelphia. We’ll be hosting an Ultrasound-Guided Nerve Block Workshop on Monday, October 9. We hope to see everyone there!
We appreciate the continued support of the ACEP Ultrasound Section. If you have questions or would like to become involved with the EMRA Ultrasound Committee, please reach out to louisaweindruch@gmail.com.
