Emergency Ultrasound Section Pediatric Subcommittee Update

Lindsey Chaudoin, MD and Matthew Moake, MD, PhD; Rahul Shah, MD

The Peds Subcommittee aims to provide a robust pediatrics presence throughout the ACEP EUS.  Our current work is focusing on connecting ACEP members with existing pediatric content to provide easy access for all EM providers working to expand their pediatric ultrasound knowledge, skills, and to incorporate more peds POCUS into their practice. Recent work to this aim includes:

PEM PoCUS Pocket Cards

We are adding pediatric topic, quick reference cards to our subcommittee page for reference or download to use at bedside during clinical work. So far, we have created cards for hip effusions, skull fractures, supracondylar elbow fractures, pyloric stenosis, and appendicitis. Expect the first versions of the cards online here soon.

PEM content in EUS Newsletter

We aim to include peds content in each quarterly edition from faculty, fellows, residents, or medical students. Access the newsletter here.

PEM Toolkit

We continue to grow this repository of peds-PoCUS curricula to be utilized by general EM clinicians who want to increase their skill in Peds-PoCUS skills, or for PEM programs looking for examples of how to further integrate ultrasound instruction in their fellowship.
