How medical experts describe COVID fatigue on the front lines

For many nurses and doctors, the psychological wounds from battling coronavirus festered as the pandemic stretched over the past nine months.

Mental trauma mounted for those forced to comfort patients dying alone due to hospital visitation bans, experts and medical professions said. 

As COVID-19 sidelined colleagues, many medical workers struggled to keep pace with waves of patients seriously sickened by the respiratory disease.
