BASIC FUNCTION Supports Director of implementation, Emergency Medicine Data Institute (EMDI) and Clinical Emergency Data Registry (CEDR) to implement the EMDI/CEDR service for customers of ACEP. Analysts will support regular research reports, position paper slide sets, talking points, and summaries for internal and external audiences on key issues to protect and enhance emergency care. Provides project management and administrative support analytics for the clinical data registry implementation and related quality projects to achieve department objectives and execute assigned deliverables. Supports efforts to transform the EMDI/CEDR implementation processes into a repeatable, scalable, and cost-effective operation.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Implementation Data Analyst Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Maintains a system for tracking EMDI/CEDR related issues and deadlines that impact clinical data registries; provide regular status updates to the Implementation Manager, CEDR Implementation Director, Quality Director and designated ACEP stakeholders.

    2. EMDI projects in collaboration with ACEP’s Clinical Emergency Data Registry (CEDR) vendor and in-house IT team for integration and interface development with various portals, dashboards, reporting tools.

    3. Tracks clinical data registry vendor priorities, activities, and work plans; provide regular status updates to the Implementation Manager, EMDI/CEDR Implementation Director, Quality Director and designated ACEP stakeholders.

    4. In conjunction with the Implementation Manager, EMDI/CEDR Implementation Director, Quality Director and designated ACEP stakeholders implements, and supports activities related to data standards, data quality, data interoperability, data query, data analysis, and survey administration.

    5. Reports findings to support the generation of position papers, research reports, slide sets, talking points, and summaries of data for internal and external audiences on key issues for emergency care.

    6. Supports funded projects, coordinate with funding agencies, and work with department staff and physician leaders to develop deliverables for funded projects.

    7. Provides staff support to the Quality and Patient Safety Committee and to the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety section, Emergency Medicine Informatics and others as assigned.

    8. Serves as liaison between ACEP, potential and enrolled registry participants, large/small group organizations, billing, and coding companies, EHR vendors, and funding agencies in conjunction with AED of Quality, Director of Implementation CEDR/EMDI, and Quality team members.

    9. Provides administrative management and continued outreach and engagement for EDs participating in ACEP’s clinical data registry and quality initiatives.

    10. Collaborates on the development of new partnerships with billing and coding companies, large groups, funding agencies, researchers, and other outreach support as needed.

    11. Provides administrative support and analytics for project management tools used by ACEP and our partners.

    12. Coordinates and participates in webinars, trainings, and site visits for recruitment, validation and facilitate registry related committee and section outreach and related responsibilities to maximize interaction with physician leadership.

    13. Establishes, maintains, and updates systems for communication among staff to facilitate the efficient flow of information relating to projects, activities, and objectives, including development and distribution of weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports.

    14. Supports relevant committees, sections, and task forces as assigned.

    15. Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

    16. Attends educational and business meetings as assigned, with some travel required.

    17. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  2. Implementation Account Management Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Creates and maintains strong, effective relationships between ACEP and EMDI/CEDR customer leadership and staff for responsible accounts.  Builds trust and confidence with hospital and provider group physicians and CxO leadership.

    2. Manages all aspects of new group onboarding process – from application to contracting.  Provide continuous leadership for the technical implementation phase and the onboarding process.

    3. Makes all decisions regarding the implementation and operation of EMDI/CEDR for the customer.

    4. Resolves issues and negotiates resolutions with EMDI/CEDR customers for optimal outcomes.

    5. Acts as the single point of contact for Emergency Management groups to address issues or concerns.

    6. Conducts online and/or in-person information sessions on behalf of CEDR/EMDI.

    7. Handles data entry to update ACEP and vendor systems that monitor the group’s progress during onboarding; Lead in risk management/issue escalation, and coordinate communication to all stakeholders.

    8. Leads efforts of EMDI/CEDR staff and Vendor staff to ensure timely completion of all customer inquiries and activities.

    9. Collaborates with colleagues on continuous improvement initiatives for operating processes.

    10. Participates in various EMDI/CEDR projects and activities to provide account management input to vendor and in-house IT team to integrate and interface with various portals, dashboards, reporting tools, CRM, and membership systems.

    11. Tracks progress of EMDI/CEDR onboarding and priorities, activities, and work plans; provide regular status updates.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Master’s degree in health services, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, health policy or a related field.  Bachelor’s degree required, but master’s degree requirement can be met through equivalent related work experience.

  2. Computer skills, including familiarity with statistical evaluation tools, research databases, data warehouse, data marts, ETL, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, statistical packages such as SAS/STATA/SPSS/R Microstrategy, Relational databases, Access, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  3. Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, responsible, and resourceful.

  4. Ability to handle full range of delegated tasks, work independently, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, ability to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, display strong personal initiative, and follow through in all areas assigned with attention to detail and timeliness.

  5. Ability to build, establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Other Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience in health services research, statistics, data standards, data analysis or methods, health policy, health administration, health services, public health, health professions, or health related associations or organizations, including knowledge of HIPAA compliance, IRB procedures, data security and privacy aspects.

  2. Experience in analysis of administrative claims data and/or electronic health record data sources.

  3. Experience with handling and executing multiple priorities with both internal and external stakeholders.

  4. Some knowledge of health policy issues, regulatory, reimbursement, clinical and/or quality issues.
