Global Health Services best practices are shared across all brands leading to uniformity of health policies and protocols with variations due to National or local health regulations. On board medical teams are supported by a global Health Operations Center available 24/7 for consultation and guidance. All vessels have access to university-based telehealth support.
Medical centers are staffed by full time physicians, nurses, paramedics, healthcare assistants and medical administrators. Assignments are typically 4 months duration, followed by 2 months vacation. The medical team numbers and ranks vary depending on the size of the ship and the itinerary. Our shipboard facilities meet or exceed the health care guidelines for cruise ship medical facilities issued by ACEP.
Recruitment:
Doctors must have a current license to practice and at least three years postgraduate experience in Emergency Medicine, acute care, or critical care / ICU, and should be in possession of valid basic and advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and advanced trauma life support certificates or advanced diplomas in emergency medicine.
Nurses must have a current license to practice and at least three years postgraduate experience in emergency medicine, or acute care. They must hold a valid accredited BLS/ALS / ACLS certificate, prior to joining a vessel.
Medical staff must be proficient in English language.

Clipper Cruise Line specializes in small cruise ship expedition-type experiences in remote areas of Alaska, Russia, Japan, Asia, and South Pacific aboard the Clipper Odyssey. The ship doctor must be able to handle a multitude of general medical problems and consider a number of solutions, with limited alternatives/supplies available.
Flexibility, availability, and affability, with a teamwork attitude, are important factors of this position. Daily sick-call hours and emergency availability to passengers and crew members.
Ship doctor applicants should have a current US state licensure and CV; copy of their photo page passport; ACLS or equivalent; good general health/positive attitude; and be available for 3 to 6 weeks tour of duty. Preference given to past ship physician experience and/or military service. Computer skills essential. Board Certified/Eligible. EM, FM, IM, or Surgery preferred. No labs, X-ray, or nurse available.
Contracts provide medical liability insurance, air/land travel to and from ship, and cruise itinerary for doctor and comp cruise for companion.

It is recommended that interested physicians send the cruise line a letter of interest and CV in addition to the application form.
